Biography
WEST BOYLSTON - Frances J. (Moran) Cronin, 87, of West Boylston, passed away peacefully under the loving care of her family and staff at the Worcester Rehabilitation Health Care Center, Worcester. She was born and raised in Worcester, daughter of Joseph F. and Mary T. (McGarr) Moran, Jr., and has lived in West Boylston for 51 years.
Frances was a graduate of Commerce High School in 1944 and started her career as a clerk typist in the Office of Naval Intelligence in Washington, D.C., followed by a clerk typist for Rockwood Sprinkler Company in Worcester and the Register of Deeds at the Worcester Courthouse. Most of her married life was spent as a homemaker.
She was an active member of Our Lady of Good Counsel Church in West Boylston and its Women's Club, and a member of the Bay Path Square and Round Dancing Clubs. An avid sports fan, she loved all Boston sports and was a former champion ping-pong player. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting and reading.
Frances is survived and will be greatly missed by her husband of 62 years, Donald F. Cronin; her children, Marie Winston and her husband Steve of Dedham, Deborah Hoyle and her husband Dave of Hanover, Paul Cronin and his wife Sally of Woodbury, MN, Kathy Hebb and her husband Jeff of Sterling, Robert Cronin and his wife Carla of Needham, and Diane Bolivar and her husband Wayne of Littleton. She also leaves her cherished grandchildren with whom she babysat over the years and enjoyed watching them at their sporting events: Ryan, Kevin and Whitney Hoyle, Amy, Alexa and Erika Hebb, Lucas, McLain and Elijah Cronin, Brendan, Michaela and Matthew Cronin, and Jaclyn, Derek and Kerri Bolivar; two great-grandchildren, Logan Hoyle and Cailyn Hoyle; a brother, John Willard Moran of Deerfield Beach, FL; and several nieces and nephews. Two sisters, Mary Virginia Powers and Helena Kathleen St. Thomas, predeceased her.
The Cronin family would like to thank the entire staff at the Worcester Rehabilitation and Health Care Center, formerly Radius, especially the 4th floor nurses and aides for their thoughtful and loving care while she was a resident.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with the family from 4 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, April 21, in the Miles-Sterling Funeral and Tribute Center, 100 Worcester Road (Rte. 12), Sterling. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, April 22, at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, 111 Worcester St., West Boylston. Interment will follow in Mt. Vernon Cemetery, West Boylston. Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Mass. Chapter, 480 Pleasant St., Watertown, MA 02472.
