HOLDEN, MA/PALM HARBOR, FL - Frank P. Sloan, 79, formerly of Holden, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Thursday, March 21, 2013 at Countryside Hospital in Safety Harbor, Florida.
Frank worked at Sunnyside Ford in Holden for 32 years. He served in the United States Air Force, was a member of Holden Grange #78,and was a member of Village of Lake Tarpon Veteran’s Organization. After retiring to Palm Harbor, Florida in 1994, Frank became active in Masonry and was Past Master of the Sutherland Lodge of Masons in Palm Harbor, Past Worthy Patron at both New Port Richey and Electa Chapters of the Order of Eastern Star, and a perpetual member of the Valley of Tampa, Orient of Florida Scottish Rite Bodies, Southern Jurisdiction.
Frank and his wife June, enjoyed attending fraternal meetings and gatherings and cherished the many friendships they made. He loved dancing with his wife, fishing, woodworking, crossword puzzles, and reading. Above all, he enjoyed spending summers with his children and granddaughter in New England.
He is survived and will be lovingly missed by his wife of 57 years, June M. (Horstman) Sloan; his daughter, Jane Howe and her husband Edward of Holden; his son, Frank Sloan and his wife Mary (Pettis) of Jefferson; and his granddaughter, Jessica also of Jefferson.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial service honoring Frank's life at 2 p.m. on Friday, April 5, at the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Frank's name to R.E.S.T. (Resident Eastern Star Today), c/o Georgia Edwards, 6124 Stephanie Drive., Panama City, FL 32404, or Southeastern Guide Dogs, c/o Grand Secretary Linda Dudley, P.O. Box 97, Bonifay, FL 32425.
