WORCESTER – Gary A. Cohen, age 83, died peacefully on Saturday, May 23rd, 2026 at Dodge Park Rest Home, surrounded by the loving presence of his family. Born in Worcester, Gary was the son of Alfred and Lillian (Korenblum) Cohen and was a lifelong resident of Worcester.
Gary graduated from Classical High School in 1961, eventually graduating from the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy. He worked for many years as a pharmacist. He was also a long-time member of Congregation Beth Israel in Worcester.
Gary will be lovingly missed and remembered by his loving wife of 62 years, Yvonne (Tebo) Cohen of Worcester; his devoted children, Rebecca Cohen of Montana, and his son, Marc Cohen and his wife, Melissa of Worcester; his cherished grandchildren, Lillian, Sarah, Jessica, Samuel and Julianna; and his sisters, Bonnie Cooper, Nan Sobel and her husband, Howard, and Beth Langevin and her husband, Chris, and his brother in laws Ronnie Parker and William Horne. He had many devoted nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Lynne Horne in 2022.
Gary was a beloved member of the Worcester Jewish community. He was born and raised in Tatnuck Square, and raised his family in Worcester. He served as a medic in the Air Force in Vietnam, and was a popular local baseball player in the 1960s. He was everyone’s favorite uncle, pharmacist, neighbor and friend. He loved reggae music, dogs, and buying candy for his grandchildren. Everyone felt special and loved by Gary, and those who were lucky enough to know him will never forget the twinkle in his eyes or smile on his face.
Family and friends will gather to honor Gary’s memory at his Funeral Service at 2:00 PM on Monday, May 25th, 2026, at Congregation Beth Israel, 15 Jamesbury Drive, Worcester. Interment will follow at Holy Society Cemetery, Havana Road, Leicester. Memorial Observances will be announced. Arrangements are in the care of Miles Funeral Home of Holden.
