Eugene “Gene” Hollander, 80, of Stuart, Florida, formerly of Medway, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully. He was predeceased by his parents, Jules Hollander and Judith Copperman Hollander, and by his sister, Susan Hollander Kopper.
Gene was born in Washington, DC, in November 1945 and spent his early years in the Washington and Hyattsville, Maryland area. He later made Massachusetts his home for many years, living in Medway for 27 years, as well as in Westerly and Providence, Rhode Island, before relocating to Stuart, Florida, eight years ago.
Gene built a long and successful career in the furniture industry as an independent furniture representative. Known for his deep product knowledge, enthusiasm, and mentorship of emerging companies, he worked with a wide range of manufacturers and maintained lasting professional relationships throughout New England and beyond.
Gene and Lynda (Budd) Hollander were married for 51 years and raised their children in Medway, Massachusetts, where they were both active members of Temple Beth Torah in Holliston. Music was central to their life together, and they loved attending concerts side by side. A vacation was never complete unless it included water and the beach, a love they took to a new level through boating, cruising around Boston Harbor and along the New England coast, and especially cherishing the years they lived on the Rhode Island shore. They spent countless hours with their grandchildren at the beach, celebrating milestones and savoring simple moments together, from board games to unhurried time just being together. Their home was always open, and they found great joy in hosting family and friends, creating a space filled with warmth, connection, and welcome.
He is survived by his beloved wife Lynda (Budd) Hollander; his children Sara Birnbaum (Daniel), Amy Walsh (Scott), and Mathew Hollander; his four grandchildren; and his nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
A funeral service will be held inside the Chapel at Sharon Memorial Park, 120 Canton Street, Sharon, Massachusetts, on Friday, February 6th at 1:00 pm.
