BEVERLY - George Stevens, a devoted father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 13, 2025, in Beverly, Massachusetts, at 94. Born October 9, 1930, in Newburyport, he was the son of Greek immigrants Peter and Stella (Demarkis) Stevens, and the beloved brother of James, John (deceased), and Tula (deceased). He will be fondly remembered by his nieces and nephews.
George's life was defined by love, hard work, and devotion to family. He was predeceased by his first wife, Beverly (Blanchard) Stevens, and is survived by their children: Marc Stevens and his wife Sylvie, with their sons Samuel and fiancée Ashley, Nicolas and fiancée Emma, and Vincent; and Christine Stevens with her daughter Anna.
He later married Marilyn (Kobel) Stevens, who passed away before him, as did her daughter Kathryn Haggar. He is also survived by his stepchildren-Christopher Haggar and his wife Teri, with their children Lauren and Alex; and Melissa (Haggar) Jordan and her husband Michael.
As a boy, George spent carefree days on the shores of Plum Island, forging memories that lasted a lifetime. He served proudly in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, deployed in Europe, and often recalled his travels.
For more than 60 years, George worked at Table Talk Pies in Worcester, MA, rising to plant manager. He took great pride in creating a welcoming workplace, helping hundreds of Greek immigrants and their families find opportunity and community. He also built a thriving business in his local neighborhood Tatnuck Square Donuts.
In his later years, George split his time between Massachusetts and the beaches of Sarasota, FL, where he enjoyed simple pleasures-good meals, a fine scotch, and long conversations with friends. Eventually, he returned to Holden, MA, to be near his grandchildren, who were his greatest joy.
George will be remembered for his warmth, generosity, and always calming presence. His life touched many, and his legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
Family and friends are invited to a calling hour on Wednesday, August 27th from 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM at Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden, followed by a memorial service at 11:00 AM in the funeral home. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery, Worcester.
In lieu of flowers, donations in George's memory may be made to The American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 6704, Hagerstown, MD 21741 or www.cancer.org/donate
