HOLDEN, MA / TENAFLY, NJ – Gertrude E. (Ebbighausen) Tatta, 97, died Saturday, August 15, 2009 in Holden Nursing Home.
Her husband, John Tatta, died in 1979. She leaves a son, Richard J. Hoppe of St. Helena, California; two daughters, Gertrude C. Carter of Lake Worth, Florida and Gail A. Hayes of Paxton; 10 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 2 great great-grandchildren; nephews and nieces. She was born in New York, NY, the daughter of Henry and Sophie (Weitkamp) Ebbighausen, was raised in Demarest, New Jersey and lived over 50 years in Tenafly, New Jersey until moving to Holden seven years ago.
She worked as a waitress in Tenafly for many years. She was a member of Our Saviour of Lutheran Church in Cresskill, New Jersey and the Tenafly Elks Lodge 2271.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, August 21st, at Brookside Cemetery, 425 Engle Street, Englewood, New Jersey. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Tenafly Elks Lodge 2271, P.O. Box 535, Tenafly, NJ 07670. Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden is directing arrangements.
