HOLDEN – Gertrude “Trudy” (Brown) Wells, 73, of 68 Reservoir Street, died Wednesday, November 24, 2004, in her home.
She leaves a son, Dennis B. and his wife Lois Cherry of Holden; two daughters, Deborah A. Cherry of Melrose and Judith A. and her husband David Lewis of Sandisfield; three sisters, Florence Parker of Spencer, Genevieve Clark of Northfield and Sarah “Bev” McGann of Florida; four grandchildren, Shawn L. Albert of Tyringham, Rachel L., Elizabeth R. and Paul J Lewis all of Sandisfield; many nephews and nieces. Two brothers, Arthur and Albert Brown, and a sister Mary Williams, predeceased her. She was born in Waterbury, CT, the daughter of Theron and Genevieve (Hopkins) Brown, was raised in Holden and spent most of her life in Worcester County.
Mrs. Wells graduated from Holden High School. She was a long time bookkeeper and worked 10 years for Wachusett Lumber Company in Rutland. She was a volunteer at the Holden Senior Center.
The funeral service for Mrs. Wells will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, November 27, in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden. Burial will be private in Florida Cemetery, Church Road, Florida, MA. Calling hours are from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday in the funeral home.
