Biography
WORCESTER – Gregory “Gersha” Vengerik, 88, died at the Saint Francis Home on Monday, September 26, 2016 following a long illness. He was born in Kharkov, Ukraine, the son of Chaim and Palina Vengerik and lived in Worcester for 38 years.
He was a machinist at Madison Wire and Cable for 10 years, until his retirement.
At the age of 13 Gersha left school during World War II to make products for the Army. After the war he returned to school attaining his diploma and continued his education. While in Russia Gersha worked in a Machinist Plant where he eventually became the Foreman, with 125 employees under his supervision.
He leaves his wife of 58 years, Lyubov (Farber) Vengerik, his two children, a daughter, Svetlana Magidov and her husband, Yuri and a son, Albert Vengerik and his wife, Inessa both of Worcester, four grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his sister, Alexandra Vengerik of Ukraine.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, September 29th at the Yeshiva-Congregation Tifereth Israel Synagogue, 22 Newton Avenue, Worcester under the direction of Richard Perlman of Miles Funeral Home of Holden. Burial will be at B’nai Brith Cemetery, Worcester,
