BOYLSTON – Harold W. St. Denis, 86, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, November 23, 2025. Born and raised in Worcester, Harold was the son of Carleton W. and Elsie V. (Lundquist) St. Denis and lived the last 53 years in Boylston. He leaves his beloved wife, Judith E. (Ferrantino) St. Denis, to whom he was married for 53 years.
Besides his wife, Harold leaves his two sons, Gregory St. Denis and his wife, Tracy, of Boylston, and Gary St. Denis and his wife, Kimberly, of North Brookfield; two daughters, Wendy Davis and her husband, Jeffrey Hall, of Webster, and Pamela Durkin and her husband, Thomas, of Webster; a sister, Linda Miller of West Boylston; 16 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. Besides his parents, Harold is predeceased by a daughter, Sharon Ferguson, and his brother, Robert St. Denis.
He was an avid outdoorsman who, given the choice, would have loved to serve as a forest ranger. As a young man, he contracted polio two years before the vaccine became available, yet he faced this challenge with perseverance and determination. Following in his uncle’s footsteps, he pursued mechanical engineering and earned an associate degree in Mechanical Engineering from the former Worcester Junior College.
Harold began his engineering career at Reed Rolled Thread & Die Co. in Holden, where he worked for several years. He later joined Dynomax, Inc. in Marlborough, a manufacturer of high-precision mechanical design components for clients across the United States and abroad. Harold dedicated 32 years to Dynomax, contributing his expertise and strong work ethic throughout his long tenure.
Some of Harold’s favorite pastimes included candlepin bowling and belonged to several leagues over the years. He also looked forward to playing pitch with his friends. He loved being outdoors and felt most at home in nature. Whether hiking with family members or simply walking in the woods, he enjoyed pointing out different trees and plants; he seemed to know them all. Harold never let his physical challenges hold him back and especially loved going four-wheeling whenever he had the chance.
His greatest joy in life was his grandchildren, with whom he cherished every moment. He was always creating something for them, including sled runs in his backyard for winter fun and a treehouse where they could enjoy sleepovers, just to name a few. Harold will be remembered for his gentle kindness, his love of the natural world, and, most of all, his deep devotion to his family.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit Harold’s family from 10 to 11:30 am on Thursday, December 4, at the Miles-Sterling Funeral and Tribute Center, 100 Worcester Road, Sterling, followed by a Celebration of Life at 11:30 am.
