WORCESTER - Harriet (Hofmann) Goff passed away on July 13, 2022 after 71 years of bringing passion to everything she touched. She leaves behind her beloved family: husband Joseph; children Debbie, Michael, his wife Sophie and grandchildren Daniel and Ava, Steven and his wife Christiana; sisters Susan Bove and Barb Jennes; in-laws, nieces and nephews; and many adoring friends.
The daughter of William and Myrtle Hofmann, Harriet grew up in North Greenbush, NY, where she cultivated a fondness for learning, baking and beautiful scenery. After earning her Bachelor and Master’s of Science from Alfred University, she worked as a ceramics engineer at Norton Company for many years. After raising her three children, she shared her enthusiasm for science as a teacher for decades at Burncoat Middle School.
Harriet brought joy to her family as a constant presence in her children’s lives¬ – from sporting events to creative birthday parties to over the top school projects to the regular days made more boisterous with her around. The Goff household was always a welcoming place to stock up on snacks and laughs alike. Her selfless ability to support every milestone, large or small, continued into their adulthoods and was reflected in the loving way she looked at her grandchildren as they grew.
She and Joe loved to travel, with Harriet meticulously researching and planning each location to soak in the culture and sights. From their various social activities to her girls’ nights out, she was always ready to chat and listen with gusto. She loved to read, float in the ocean or lounge under a good waterfall, and made a mean apple pie. She also relished volunteering with many organizations that were close to her heart.
Harriet’s gregarious personality and passionate intelligence will be forever remembered by everyone who loved her.
