STERLING – Hector J. Lirette, 82, passed away on Thursday, November 11, 2021, at UMASS Memorial Medical Center in Worcester after battling an illness. Born in Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada, Hector was the son of Frederick and Laura (Cormier) Lirette. Hector was educated in Moncton, New Brunswick before moving to the United States where he resided in Sterling for the past 30 years.
Hector will be missed dearly by his loving wife and best friend, Joanne Cacciatore. He will be greatly missed for his kindness and generosity by all his family and friends. His kindness and gentle nature will be fondly remembered by all he knew and met throughout his life.
He was a licensed electrician and worked for several electrical contractors before starting his own electrical contracting company in Sterling. He also served several years as Sterling’s Electrical Inspector. After retiring at the age of 75, Hector continued helping family and friends as an electrician.
He enjoyed spending time with his wife, Joanne at their summer home in Madison, Maine. Hector loved the lake where he enjoyed fishing and boating on his Stingray. Hector was meticulous at taking care of his yard and all his power equipment. He loved to stay busy. In his spare time, he collected model trains and antique cars.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Hector’s family from 5 to 8 pm on Monday, November 15, at Miles-Sterling Funeral and Tribute Center in Sterling. A funeral Mass and burial will be celebrated privately at the convenience of the family. Masks are preferred for visiting hours. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Richards of Chichester (Memory Tree), 4 Bridge St., Sterling MA 01564.
