WORCESTER – Robert Henry Johnson, 79, of Worcester, died on Wednesday, October 10, 2007 in his daughter’s home in Holden, after an illness.
His wife of 40 years, Mary E. (Goodwin) Johnson, died in 1992. He leaves two sons, Bill Johnson and his wife Lori and their children, Brian, Peter, Alex, and Katie of Marshfield, and Bob Johnson and his wife Carolyn and their son Luke of Tucson, Arizona; three daughters, Christine Johnson of Worcester, MaryAnn Baker and her husband Joe and their children, Nicole and Michael of Holden, and Karin Soderland and her husband Ed and their children, Ian and Cody of Middleboro; a companion, Mary Hines of Worcester; and many nephews and nieces. He was born in Worcester, the son of Alf and Ragna (Jensen) Johannessen and lived 79 years in Worcester.
Mr. Johnson was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He graduated from South High School and worked as a draftsman for Feecon in Westboro before retiring. He was a member of St. Peter’s Church in Worcester, the St. Vincent’s DePaul Society, the Retired Men’s Club of Greendale and the American Legion, Boston Post 462. Bob was an active individual who enjoyed swing dancing, traveling and spending time at the beach in Marshfield. He cherished spending time with his nine grandchildren, watching their many soccer or baseball games and dance recitals, or just picking them up from school. He will be sorely missed.
The funeral service for Mr. Johnson will be held on Friday, October 12th, from the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden with a Mass at 11 a.m. in St. Peter’s Church, 931 Main Street, Worcester. Burial will follow in St. John’s Cemetery, 260 Cambridge Street, Worcester. Calling hours are from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, October 11th, in the funeral home.
