Ware/Hubbardston – Janice M. (Callahan) Orr, 81, died peacefully on
Saturday, July 11, 2026 at Rose Monahan Hospice Home in Worcester.
She was born in Worcester, the beloved daughter of the late Daniel J. and Elsie (Johnson) Orr and graduated from Doherty High School with the class of 1963.
Janice married her beloved high school sweetheart, William M. Orr in 1962 and the couple lived in Worcester. They later moved to Texas for a time and then settled in Hubbardston in 1976. Janice would later relocate to Cedarbrook Village in Ware, where she leaves many dear friends.
Janice enjoyed working at the Holden Veterinary Clinic, first in the office, then later as an anesthesiologist. She worked at the family business, Orr Brothers Repair in Rutland completing the bookkeeping. Janice also worked at Rutland Hardware and Home Center, previously known as the Wachusett Lumber & Building Supply Co., for many years. Janice was very proud of her Swedish heritage and enjoyed spending time with her family. She will be dearly missed.
Janice was predeceased by her beloved husband of 61 years,
William M. Orr, Sr. in 2023. She will be lovingly missed and remembered by her son; William Orr of Barre and his wife, Dawn Orr; her daughter,
Deborah J. Orr of Oxford; her brother, Robert J. Callahan and his wife,
Phyllis of Paxton; her grandchildren, Ashley Orr and her husband, Brendon
Toohil, Jamie Orr-Gentile, Zachary Orr, Joshua Orr, Angeline Orr and Tara Connole; her great grandchildren, Ryley Toohil, Rhyan Orr, Regan Toohil and Blake Dodge; as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by brother, Joel Callahan; her twin brother, James Callahan; and her sister, Barbara Callahan.
Janice’s family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Cedarbrook Village for the exceptional care that Janice received there.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial calling hour from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. followed by a memorial service at 12 p.m. on Saturday, July 25, 2026 at Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Worcester Animal Rescue League, 139 Holden Street, Worcester, MA 01606.
