WORCESTER - Jay Nathan Levey, age 65, passed away on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, at the St. Francis Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Worcester. He was born in Worcester on June 14, 1960, to the late Miriam (Levinson) Levey and Herman (Hy) Levey. He was predeceased by his sisters, Phyllis and Andrea. He is survived by his aunt and uncle Sylvia and Ralph Memolo, of Brookline and cousins Stu and his wife Anne and their son Louis Diamond.
Jay attended the Yeshiva Achei Tmimim Academy and graduated from Worcester South High School in 1979. After high school he worked with his father at Lev Auto Electric. For seven years he was a member of the Worcester Telegram distribution team.
His final employment was as a school bus driver for the City of Worcester. He took great pride in every aspect of his work, and in particular, his ability to maintain discipline from the students who rode on his bus. His increasing loss of vision forced him to retire from that job.
Jay’s friends and family remember him as someone with a “big heart” who was hard-working and very determined to prevail against a number of health problems. He was a resident of Marble Street Apartments, where he was a regular at weekly poker games with many of his friends and neighbors.
Jay received invaluable assistance and support over the past 13 years from his devoted caretaker and good friend, Stephanie Springer. She was ably assisted by Sarah Perron. In the past, Laura Luna spent a number of years as Jay’s caretaker.
Family and friends will gather for a Graveside Funeral Service at 12:00 PM on Friday, December 26th at Holy Society Cemetery, Havana Road, Leicester.
In lieu of flowers, Memorial Donations may be made to The Massachusetts Commission for the Blind, 390 Main Street, Worcester, MA 01608.
