Rene J. Belisle

March 20, 1927 — February 27, 2010

STERLING – Rene J. Belisle, 82, of East Park Road, died peacefully on Saturday, February 27, 2010 in Saint Vincent Hospital, Worcester. He was born in East Douglas, a son of Rene L. and Anita (Ledger) Belisle, and lived in Sterling for 39 years before recently moving to the Christopher House in Worcester.

His beloved wife of 36 years, Barbara H. (Vasil) Belisle, passed away in March of 2005. He leaves his beloved son, Jeffrey J. Belisle of Sterling; his four loving grandchildren, Steven, Zachary, Lance and Caralyn Belisle; his favorite sister-in-law, Dianna Kaplanes and her husband Spyridon of Worcester; two brother-in-laws, Nick and Henry Vasil; a Goddaughter and niece, Kasandra Kaplanes; nieces and nephews including Thomas and Stefany Kaplanes, James, Michael, Peter and Pamela Vasil. Three sisters, Pauline, Doris and Irene, and a brother, Joseph, predeceased him.

Rene was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II serving in the European African Middle Eastern Theatre aboard the USS Remey.

He was a service manager for various automotive dealers in the greater Boston and Worcester area. He was the recipient of numerous customer service awards and won trips to Spain, Copenhagen, Hawaii and Aruba – much to the enjoyment of his wife, Barbara. He was a member of Saint Mary's Assumption Albanian Orthodox Church.

The family would like to thank the staff of the Christopher House for their care and compassion during Rene's stay with them.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 5 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, March 2nd, in the Miles-Sterling Funeral Home, 100 Worcester Road (Rte. 12), Sterling. A Trisagion Service will be held at 6 p.m. during calling hours. The funeral service for Rene will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 3rd, in the Saint Mary's Assumption Albanian Orthodox Church, 535 Salisbury Street, Worcester. Burial will follow in Hope Cemetery, 119 Webster Street, Worcester. Memorial donations may be made to Saint Mary's Assumption Albanian Orthodox Church, 535 Salisbury Street, Worcester, MA 01609.
