RUTLAND - Jean C. Wamback, 83, passed away after a long battle with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP) with her family by her side on January 2, 2026. She is the loving wife of the late Stephen C. Wamback who predeceased her in 2017.
Jean was born in Worcester in 1942 and lived there until 2021. She was the only child of Joseph and Jeannette (Guilbeault) Trudeau. A graduate of Classical High School and Worcester State College, she went on to teach grammar school briefly in Northborough. After the birth of her children, Jean found her greatest fulfillment at home, where she devoted herself wholeheartedly to raising her children and creating a warm, steady household. In later years, she returned to the workforce, working at Spag's for many years before eventually retiring from Westborough Savings Bank.
She was a devout communicant at St. Stephen's Church in Worcester and a member of the Jolly Jills Social Club. She loved the beach and spent winters in Florida with her husband Steve where they would often be found taking walks, eating ice cream, or simply making sure her home was immaculately clean.
Jean leaves behind her four children, Stephen Wamback and his husband Matthew Wall of Tacoma, WA, Michelle Campbell and her husband James of Rutland, John Wamback and his wife Kimberly of Rutland, and Matthew Wamback and his wife Nina of Worcester; her grandchildren, Sarah Remson and her husband Tommy, Ian Campbell, Sean Wamback, Benjamin Wamback, and Adam Wamback; and great grandson Charles Remson.
Jean's family would like also like to express appreciation for the wonderful care given by her caregivers: Rita, Kwame, Abi and Emily and by the staff of Notre Dame Hospice: Stephanie, Kristie and Colleen.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend a visitation on Friday, January 9th from 10:00 - 11:00 AM at Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM in the funeral home. Burial will take place in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton.
