Daniel J. Flynn

RUTLAND – Daniel J. Flynn, Jr., 65, of 8 Orchard Hill Drive, died at home on Tuesday, September 9, 2008.

His beloved wife of 24 years, Mary Jean (White) Flynn, died in 1986. He leaves three daughters, Colleen E. Wolfe and her husband Steven of Charlton, Eileen M. Ledbetter and her husband Larry of Woodbridge, Virginia and Deborah J. McCrady of Hudson, New Hampshire; his father, Daniel J. Flynn, Sr. of Worcester; a sister, Mary C. "Nancy" Regan and her husband Edward of Pittsfield; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; nephews and nieces. He was born and raised in Worcester, the son of the late Claire R. (Smith) Flynn, and lived 21 years in Holden before moving to Rutland in 1998.

After attending Commerce High School, Dan joined the U.S. Marine Corps and served in Vietnam as a Lance Corporal. He later worked over 30 years for Wyman Gordon Co. in Grafton retiring as a plant manager. Dan enjoyed fishing, golfing and vacationing at Cape Cod.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday, September 12th, in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden. The funeral will be held on Saturday, September 13th, from the funeral home with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Patrick's Church, 290 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Rutland. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, 1326 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Central Massachusetts Shelter for Homeless Veterans, 69 Grove Street, Worcester, MA 01605.
