RUTLAND – Joanne O. (Navickas) Kosla, 89, of Main Street, died on Friday, February 16, 2007, at the Worcester Medical Center, Worcester after an illness.
Her husband, Leslie A. Kosla, Sr., died in 1975. She leaves two sons, Leslie A. Kosla, Jr., of Larkspur, CA and William G. Kosla of Edgartown, MA; a daughter, Dolores A. Mero of Vero Beach, FL; five grandchildren and three great grandchildren. A brother, Alphonse Navickas and a sister, Angela Vaisa, predeceased her. She was born in Worcester, the daughter of the late William and Anna (Simonis) Navickas.
Joanne devoted her time to her family and community, after retiring from Astra Pharmaceutical Company in Worcester. She did volunteer work at the former Rutland Heights Hospital, the Mustard Seed and Fallon Clinic. She visited Haiti as a member of St. Patrick’s Church Mission Society.
The funeral Mass for Mrs. Kosla will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, February 26, at St. Patrick’s Church, 290 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Rutland. Burial will Follow at Worcester County Memorial Park, 217 Richards Avenue (Rte. 56), Paxton. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the St. Joseph’s Abbey, 167 North Spencer Road, Spencer, MA 01562. Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden is directing arrangements.
