RUTLAND – John H. Scannell, 74, of Brintnal Drive, a 20-year resident of Rutland, died Thursday, June 1, 2006, in the Worcester Medical Center after a brief illness.
He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Mary F. (Mulvey) Scannell; a daughter, Tracy E. Scannell and two grandsons, Scott David Scannell and Nicholas John Scannell all of Worcester; a brother, Joseph P. Scannell of Shrewsbury; a sister, Marguerite Martel of Tustin, CA; and many nieces and nephews. A brother, James M. Scannell, died on Jan. 14, 2006. He was born in Worcester, son of Henry P. and Teresa D. (Danahy) Scannell. He was a graduate of Commerce High School, Worcester Junior College and Assumption College. He served with the Marine Corps in Korea during the war.
Mr. Scannell was General Manager for Pyrotherm, a Nypro Company, in Clinton, and retired in 1993 from Catamount Manufacturing in Orange where he was Vice President of Manufacturing. He was an outdoorsman and particularly enjoyed fly fishing.
The funeral service for Mr. Scannell will be held on Monday, June 5, from the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden, with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Patrick’s Church, 290 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Rutland. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, 217 Richards Avenue (Rte. 56), Paxton. Calling hours are from 3 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, June 4, in the funeral home.
