John H. 'Jack' Carlson

Biography
HOLDEN - - John H. “Jack” Carlson, 79, died peacefully at home on Tuesday, January 20, 2015. He was born in Worcester, a son of the late Carl E. and Hilda (Anderson) Carlson.

Jack was raised in Worcester and graduated from Commerce High School. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, serving in the US Army for two years before his discharge. He returned to Worcester and began a career that spanned over 30 years with the Wyman-Gordon Company, working in the forge shop in both Worcester and Grafton. He enjoyed travelling with his wife, tending his garden and caring for his property. He was an active member of the Holden Republican Committee.

Jack leaves his beloved wife of 56 years, Betty J. (Wehkoja) Carlson; his two sisters, Grayce E. Jones of Holden and Betty Brown and her husband, Paul of Westborough. He also will be greatly missed by his nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Robert Carlson.

Private services will be held for Jack’s family on Saturday. A public funeral service will be held in the spring, followed by burial in Grove Cemetery, Holden. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to VNA Care Hospice, 120 Thomas Street, Worcester, MA 01608, or to a charity of the donor’s choice. Arrangements are under the care of the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden, MA.
