HOLDEN – John P. Lowe, 78, of 103 Manning Street, died peacefully on Tuesday, August 9, 2005, in the Sterling Healthcare Center, Sterling, after an illness.
He leaves his son, Richard M. Lowe and his wife, Vera, of Duluth, Georgia; a daughter, Patricia A. Jacobson and her husband Alan of Charlotte, North Carolina; a grandson, Richard P. Lowe of Duluth; and many close friends. He was born in Northampton, son of Louis Edward and Katherine T. (Doyle) Lowe, and lived in Greenfield until moving to Holden in 1964. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II.
Mr. Lowe worked in the entertainment movie industry for 63 years. He began his career as an usher at the Calvin Theatre in Northampton, and worked for National Amusements since 1962 as a District Manager. His life long passion was studying, collecting and sharing every aspect of the motion picture industry.
The funeral for Mr. Lowe will be held on Saturday, August 13, from the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden, with a Mass at 9:30 a.m. in St. Mary’s Church, 114 Princeton Street, Jefferson. Private burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, 235 North Elm Street, Northampton. Calling hours are from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday, August 12, in the funeral home.
