WEST BOYLSTON - Leonard John Cooke, 72, of 11 Peachtree Street, passed away on Monday, February 18, 2008, in UMass Memorial Heathcare, after a lengthy illness.

He leaves the love of his life and wife of 51 years, Alice T. (James) Cooke; two daughters, Theresa Mulryan and her husband Dennis of West Boylston and Patricia Warren and her husband Dr. Wayne Warren of Connecticut; three sons, John L. Cooke and wife Joann and Thomas J. Cooke and wife Lisa, all of West Boylston, and Robert J. Cooke of Worcester; 12 grandchildren; and two great-grandsons. He is also survived by his mother, Ann (Culliton) Cooke of Holden; two sisters, Carol Ann Horrigan and husband Richard of N.H. and Diane Brown and her husband Don of Holden; and a brother, Daniel Cooke and his wife Maryann of Ohio; and many nieces and nephews. His father, John W. Cooke, died in 1997.

Leonard was born and raised in Holden and has lived in West Boylston for the last 48 years. He was a graduate of Sacred Heart Academy in Worcester and served in the National Guard for nine years during the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He worked for Jamesbury Corp. for many years, retiring in 1998. After retirement, he drove a school bus for the Town of West Boylston – a job he loved most of all. He was an avid fisherman, enjoyed animals and tennis, and was an enthusiastic sports fan of the Red Sox and Patriots. He was a member of Our Lady of Good Counsel Church and the Knights of Columbus.
