WORCESTER - Joseph Zarr passed away at home on Saturday, February 2, 2019, at the age of 99.
He was born in Worcester, son of Abraham and Sonia Zarr. He was predeceased by his wife, Shirley (Miller) Zarr, who passed away in December of 2005, and by his brothers, Benjamin, James and Jacob.
Joseph was employed for many years at Crompton & Knowles of Worcester and Warner & Swasey of Worcester. He was a veteran of World War II, during which he repaired aircraft at bases throughout the United States.
He was a member of Temple Emanuel Sinai and the Colonel Yarock Jewish War Veterans Post 32 of Worcester.
He leaves three children, Gary Zarr of Worcester with whom he lived, Robert Zarr and his wife, Nancy of Plantation, FL and Amy Staples and her husband, Charles of Brownfield, ME. He also leaves six grandchildren, Michael, Joshua, Brandon, Alex, Jason, and Kaia; and five great-grandchildren.
A family graveside funeral service will be held at 1:30 pm. on Monday, February 4, at Holy Society Cemetery, Cemetery Road, Auburn, under the direction of Richard Perlman of Miles Funeral Home of Holden.
