WEST BOYLSTON – John J. Richinick, Sr., 80, of 27 Sterling Place, died Wednesday, July 30, 2008 in UMass Memorial Healthcare-University Campus, Worcester.
He leaves his wife of 55 years, Jane C. (Jeznach) Richinick; two sons, John J. Richinick, Jr. of Holden and James F. Richinick of Auburn; two daughters, Janice M. Richinick of West Boylston and Judy A. Goguen of Northborough; a sister, Mildred Alexandrowicz of West Boylston; three grandchildren, Jennifer and Michele Richinick, both of Holden and Jason Goguen of Northborough. Two brothers, William and Paul Richinick, and four sisters, Stella Williams, Anna Mespelli, Helen Wozny and Elizabeth Wheeler, predeceased him. He was born and raised in Worcester, son of John and Fedora (Slizewski) Richinick, and has lived in West Boylston since 1953. He was a graduate of Worcester Boys Trade, Class of 1946.
John was a World War II U.S. Navy veteran serving aboard the destroyers USS Smalley and USS Koiner. He worked for Norton Company for 40 years, retiring in 1988. He was a member of Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, enjoyed gardening and was an enthusiastic Red Sox fan.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 3 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, August 3rd, in the Miles-Sterling Funeral Home, 100 Worcester Rd. (Rte. 12), Sterling. The funeral for John will be held on Monday, August 4th, from the funeral home with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, West Boylston. Burial will follow in Mt. Vernon Cemetery, 32 Church Street, West Boylston. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Our Lady of Good Counsel Church Memorial or Building Fund, 111 Worcester Street, West Boylston, MA 01583.
