HOLDEN – With heavy hearts, we announce that Kathleen (McGreevy) Martellotta, 75, cherished wife of John Martellotta, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, at UMass Memorial Medical Center-University Campus.
Born and raised in Worcester, Kathy was the youngest daughter of the late Thomas and Anna (Donoghue) McGreevy. She graduated from Sacred Heart Academy and Quinsigamond Community College, earning a degree in Computer Science. Kathy built a long and accomplished career as a computer programmer, working at the forefront of emerging technology, before transitioning into medical office administration, where she touched the lives of many.
Kathy met John while in high school, waited for him to return from the Vietnam War, and stood lovingly beside him for nearly 55 years as they devotedly cared for each other through all of life’s amazing journeys. Proudly Irish and wonderfully stubborn, Kathy taught her daughters persistence and led by example as a devoted mother, showing them how to balance family, career and life so they could pass those values to their own daughters.
Family was always first for Kathy. Nothing brought her more joy than spending time with her husband, children and four grandchildren, who she adored and spoke of with so much pride. Throughout her life, she loved hosting holiday gatherings and pool parties, ensuring everyone was reconnecting for a delicious meal and a good time. Not a fan of the cold, Kathy loved to travel anywhere the sun could bring her warmth, especially the beach, leaving family with beautiful memories of times together. She spent many summers soaking in the ocean air and sunshine on Cape Cod and her treasured Ogunquit Beach in Maine.
She will be lovingly missed and remembered by her husband John; her two daughters, Jaclyn Bartlett and her husband, Jason of Easton, CT and Tracy Martellotta and her husband, David Beck of Hopkinton; two sisters, Patricia Ciesla of So. Deerfield and Mary McGreevy of Simsbury, CT; four granddaughters, Ava and Brooke Bartlett and Mackenzie and Savannah Beck. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sister, Ellen Lewis.
Rest in peace our beloved Kay, Mom and Grammie. We will miss you and love you always.
Services will be held privately at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Worcester Animal Rescue League, 139 Holden Street, Worcester, MA 01606. Arrangements are under the care of Miles-Sterling Funeral & Tribute Center, 100 Worcester Road, Sterling. www.milesfuneralhome.com
