Linda Rae Allen

Worcester, MA – Linda Rae Allen, 84, passed away peacefully on September 9, 2026, at UMass Memorial Hospital, surrounded by her family.

Born on January 15, 1942, in Glens Falls, New York, she was the daughter of Ruby Marguerite and Walter Wesley Syrett.

In recent years, Mom called Worcester and West Boylston home. She and her husband were longtime residents of the Natick community, where they lived for over 65 years. She enjoyed a career in retail for several years. Above all, she loved and was profoundly proud of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

As a devoted woman of faith, she attended church services regularly. She found great joy in bringing people together, often baking her favorite recipes for family and friends and hosting many get-togethers and game nights. Her family will cherish the hand-knitted socks, blankets, sweaters, and hats she made for them over the years. She loved the sun, the sand, and the ocean. She wanted to age like sea glass, and that is what she did.

She was predeceased by her parents; her brother, Kip; her beloved husband, James Allen; and her son, James Walter Allen.

Mom’s legacy lives on through her family. She is survived by her brother, Peter Syrett, and his wife, Marcia; her children and their spouses, L. Christine Maloney and her husband, Michael, of Upton; Karen Lutz and her husband, Mark, of Kennewick, WA; Kevin Allen and his wife, Tammy, of Boylston; and Kenneth Allen and his wife, Stacie, of Wayland. She also leaves her cherished grandchildren, Josh, Elizabeth, Nick, Samantha, Rachel, Brooke, James, Kelsey, Emily, Kasey, and Ryan, and her sweet great-grandchildren, Peyton, Jackson, Madeline, and Ellie.

Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate Mom’s life at the First Congregational Church, 10 Church St., Boylston, on Monday, September 14. Visiting hours will be held from 9 to 10 a.m., followed by the funeral service at 10 a.m. The service will be livestreamed at https://www.youtube.com/@fccboylston4244/streams. Following the service, family and friends are invited to gather at the church for tea and treats as a nod to Mom. Burial will follow at Dell Park Cemetery in Natick.
