Holden - Linda J. (Wisniewski) Avedisian, 83, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, March 8, 2026 surrounded her loving family. Born and raised in Holden, she was the beloved daughter of the late John M. and Helena R. (Fournier) Wisniewski-who later changed the family name to Wisner-and a proud graduate of Wachusett High School, Class of 1961.
Linda began her working life at Sprague Electric Company, where she played a small but meaningful part in one of humanity's greatest achievements. There she contributed to the manufacturing of specialized capacitors used in the Gemini-Titan II launch vehicle and in devices for each Apollo mission. As a tribute to those whose work helped make space exploration possible, a time capsule placed aboard the Apollo 11 moon landing bears her name among many others. The knowledge that her name rests on the moon was a source of quiet pride and lasting comfort to Linda throughout her life.
She later married her one true love, the late Robert M. Avedisian, and together they made their home in Holden. For a time, Linda devoted herself fully to raising their family, embracing her role as a mother and wife with deep love and dedication. She was deeply involved in their education, and served as room mother for both children. In addition she enjoyed chaperoning for several field trips. In later years, she worked in the cafeteria at Mountview Middle School, where she was a familiar and friendly presence to many students and staff.
Linda had a deep appreciation for the natural world. An avid outdoorswoman and devoted animal lover, she found great joy in nature-whether hiking wooded trails, row boating on quiet waters, or watching birds in her backyard. She and her sister Judy also enjoyed riding a golf cart together. These simple pleasures reflected her gentle spirit and enduring curiosity about the world around her.
She leaves behind her son, John Avedisian of Holden; her daughter, Joyce Avedisian of Holden; her sister, Judith Wisner of Holden; and close nephews, Ray Wisniewski, Matthew Wisniewski, and Stefan Ludwig, and her sister in law Sharon Maginnis. She was predeceased by her brother, John Wisniewski, Jr., and her sisters, Patricia Rodriguez and Stephanie Wisniewski.
Linda's family extends their heartfelt gratitude to her devoted caregivers-Melissa, Diahann, and Gracie-as well as the entire fourth-floor staff at the Jewish Healthcare Center and the JHC Hospice team for the compassionate and loving care they provided.
Relatives and friends are invited to gather with Linda's family from 10 to 11 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, at St. Mary's Church, 114 Princeton St., Jefferson. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Mary's Church, 114 Princeton St., P.O. Box 2200, Jefferson, MA 01522.
