HOLDEN

Linda A. Miller

HOLDEN - Linda Antoun Miller died on September 30 at the age of eighty-five years.

She was educated at the Shrewsbury High School, Bates College (1963), and the Harvard Graduate School of Education (Master of Arts in Teaching, 1964).

Linda taught middle school English and writing, beginning with her practice teaching in Arlington, MA, and then briefly in Winchester, MA, Marblehead, MA, Rutland, VT, and Holden, MA., and twenty-two years in Southborough, MA. Linda’s creative assignments held students to the highest standards. Several became lifelong friends.

She served for many years as a docent at the Worcester Art Museum. She was a long-time member of the Unitarian Universalist Church of Worcester. From time to time, she took on leadership roles in the Worcester Women’s History Project, the Hall Club, and the Greater Worcester Humanists.

Linda cherished immediate and extended family. She was the instigator of many gatherings in Holden or on Cape Cod, where family were united over Lebanese food, rousing conversation, game playing, and singing carols at the holidays while she accompanied on the piano.

Linda enjoyed many friends from diverse spheres and loved the annual tradition of taking each person out to celebrate their birthday at local restaurants. She enjoyed the beauty of her backyard flower garden, and proudly displayed galleries of her grandchildren’s artwork and photos on the fridge and throughout the house.

She is survived by her husband of 60 years the Rev. David J. Miller, her sister, Jane Antoun Cartelli of Worcester, her son Matthew Miller and his wife Lynne (née Wickman), of Groton, MA, her grandchildren Lily Miller and Lucas Miller, her nephew Nicholas Antoun and his wife Nicole (née Coelho) of Princeton, NJ, and many cousins and other relatives.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Unitarian Universalist Church of Worcester Legacy Fund (140 Shore Drive, Worcester, MA 01605) or to the American Cancer Society.

A memorial service will be held at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Worcester on Wednesday, November 25, at 11:00 AM.

Arrangements are under the care of Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden. www.milesfuneralhome.com
