WORCESTER – Madelaine V.P. Johnson-Riley, 85, died on Friday, June 24, 2005 in Knollwood Nursing Center, Worcester after an illness.
She leaves two daughters, Leah K. Freedman of Worcester and Marci A. Capone and her husband, John W., formerly of Oakham, of Asheville, North Carolina; her loving grandchildren, Katrina L. Stoll of Black Mountain, North Carolina, Brieana V. and Jonna E. Capone of Asheville, North Carolian, Dov A. Freedman of Shrewsbury, Delilah R. Freedman of Quincy, Dahci S. and Desirae S. Freedwoman of Worcester; loving great grandchildren, Shamsi, Cara, Michael, Dylan, Jesra and Annabelle. She was born in Boston the daughter of Carl O. and Selma (Anderberg) Johnson and lived 10 years in Holden and many years in Worcester. She was a loving grand and great grandmother.
Madelaine graduated from Dedham High School, the Boston Conservatory of Music and attended Gordon College. She worked several years for the Holden Municipal Light Department and later for the Worcester Foundry and United Way of Central Mass.
The funeral service for Madelaine will be held 10 a.m. on Monday, June 27, in the Christ Memorial Episcopal Church, corner of Main and Spring Streets, North Brookfield. Burial will follow in South Cemetery, North Brookfield Road (Rte. 148), Oakham. Calling hours are from 3 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, June 26 in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Activities Fund of the Knollwood Nursing Center, 87 Briarwood Circle, Worcester, MA 01606.
