SOUTH LANCASTER – Madeline L. (Roeder) Schmidt, 85, of 82 Bigelow Road, South Lancaster, died Saturday, February 18, 2006, in Health Alliance – Leominster Hospital, Leominster after an illness.
She leaves her husband of 62 years, Oscar R. Schmidt; a son, Randy L. Schmidt and his wife Carolyn of Sterling; four grandchildren, Sheri and Lloyd Trueblood, and Adam and Jenna Schmidt; nieces and nephews. A daughter, Lucille L. Trueblood, predeceased her. She was born in Perkasie, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Marvin S. and Agnes M. (Hunsberger) Roeder, and lived 50 years in South Lancaster.
Mrs. Schmidt graduated from Lansdale School of Business in Pennsylvania and was an Administrative Assistant in the Nursing Department for 28 years at Atlantic Union College in South Lancaster, retiring in 1986. Previously, she worked for Joseph Feldman, C.P.A. in Clinton for several years. She was a member of the College Seventh-Day Adventist Church in South Lancaster.
The funeral service for Mrs. Schmidt will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday February 23, in the College Seventh-Day Adventist Church, 377 Main Street, South Lancaster. Burial will follow in Eastwood Cemetery, Old Common Road, Lancaster. Calling hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, February 22 in the Miles-Sterling Funeral Home, 100 Worcester Road (Rte. 12), Sterling. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Oscar R.
