HOLDEN – Hazel (Maki) Jackson, 85, of Mayo Dr., died Tuesday, December 23, 2008 in Holden Nursing Home after an illness.
Her husband of 51 years, George Jackson, died in 1995. She leaves two sons, Gary G. Jackson and his wife Carole of Holden and Donald J. Jackson and his wife Jessie of Mission Viejo, CA; a daughter, Paula L. Baroud of Sutton; 5 grandchildren, Heidi, Jonathan, Lindsay, Andrew, and Jennifer; and many nephews and nieces. A brother, Harold Maki and son-in-law, Edward Baroud predeceased her.
Hazel was born in Worcester the daughter of Victor and Ida E. (Helin) Maki and lived in Holden for 60 years. She graduated from Commerce High School and Ward Business School in Worcester and for many years worked as a secretary for Rice Elementary School in Holden, before retiring in 1985. She was a member of the Chaffin Congregational Church, she sang in the choir, taught Sunday school and belonged to the Mary Martha Circle. She enjoyed gardening, swimming, and spending time with her grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial service for Hazel at 2 p.m. on Saturday, December 27th, in Chaffin Congregational Church, 155 Shrewsbury Street, Holden. There are no calling hours and burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Chaffin Congregational Church, Memorial Fund, 155 Shrewsbury St., Holden, MA 01520. Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden is directing arrangements.
