Margaret A. Stassi

February 18, 1943 — May 4, 2013

HOLDEN – Margaret A. Stassi, 70, formerly of Brooklyn, NY, died unexpectedly on Saturday, May 4, 2013 at St. Vincent Hospital in Worcester. Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, Margaret was the daughter of Joseph and Margherita (Basone) Stassi and lived Brooklyn until moving to Holden in 2001.
Margaret was a Holden Senior Center volunteer where she helped in the kitchen, participated in the Pen Pal Program exchanging monthly letters with third grade students, and attended many of the senior programs. She loved cooking and was known for her delicious Italian meatballs. She was an avid cat lover who loved and nurtured many cats throughout her life.

She is survived and will be lovingly missed by her brother, John S. Stassi, his wife Nancy, their children J. Drew Knapic, and Elisa Knapic Woollacott and her husband Tom. She also leaves many nephews and nieces including John J. Stassi and his wife Kerry and their children Ryan, Justin and Meagan, Marisa Stassi, Michelle Rosamond and her husband Dave, and last but not least, kitty “Bella”. Cousins include Vinny, Annette, Leslie, Karen and Mark. A sister, Anna C. Gartenberg predeceased her.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, May 8, at the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden. A graveside service honoring Margaret’s life will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, May 10, at Green Wood Cemetery in Brooklyn New York. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Margaret’s name to the Holden Senior Center, 1130 Main St., Holden, MA 01520.
