Marilyn J. (McLaughlin) Gaitane

WEST BOYLSTON – Marilyn J. (McLaughlin) Gaitane, 80, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, at St. Vincent Hospital in Worcester after a long battle with cancer.

Born and raised in Worcester, Marilyn was the daughter Olive (Lawrence) McLaughlin. She lived in West Boylston for the past 53 years. Her beloved husband of 52 years, Richard N. Gaitane, passed away in May 2023.

Marilyn was a graduate of Commerce High School. She dedicated 38 years of service in Neuro-diagnostics at St. Vincent Hospital as an Electroencephalogram Technician retiring in 2020. She began her profession at Fairlawn & Memorial Hospital. Marilyn had an incredible work ethic and was extremely nurturing to her patients. For all her loving kindness, she asked nothing in return. She received many accolades throughout her years of hard work. Marilyn took deep pride in everything she did as she was equally dedicated to her family. She was an impeccable home maker. Marilyn was unstoppable.

She and her husband enjoyed dancing, winning many competitions at El Morocco and Sha-Booms in Worcester. They loved their trips to the Casino, watching their kids and grandchildren play sports. She loved entertaining family and the tremendous lifelong loyal friends of her husband. She mastered cooking authentic Albanian food and sharing these family recipes with her daughter, daughter-in-law, and grandson. She was most known for her famous Baklava.

Marilyn will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by her three children: Richard G. Gaitane of Worcester, Matthew J. Gaitane and his wife, Amy, of East Wareham, and Amy M. Gaitane of Randolph, NJ; her twin sister, Cherlyn Cariglio of Auburn; two grandchildren, Matthew J. and Hailee M. Gaitane and grand dog Penny. She is also survived by her in-laws Lorraine (Gaitane) and William Haddad, 3 nephews and 2 nieces. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her brothers, David and Sidney McLaughlin.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Marilyn’s family from 9 to 11 a.m. on Monday, July 21, at the First Congregational Church of Auburn, 128 Central Street, Auburn, followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Hope Cemetery, Worcester. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Elder Services of Worcester at 67 Millbrook Street #100. Funeral arrangements are in the care of Miles Funeral Home of Holden.
