SANDWICH/HOLDEN – Marjorie “Peggy” A. (LaPorte) Pearson, 89, formerly of Holden, died peacefully at home under the loving care of her family on Friday, May 3, 2013. Born and raised in Holden, Peggy was the daughter of Elzear and Nellie (Toombs) LaPorte, and lived here most of her life until retiring to Sandwich in 2006
Peggy graduated from Holden High School in 1942. She and her husband Milton, owned and operated Milton L. Pearson, Inc., a bus company that that provided transportation for students in Holden for over 50 years. She also worked for a period of time at the superintendent’s office of the Wachusett Regional School District.
She was a lifetime member of the First Baptist Church of Holden and was formerly a member of its choir and served on several committees. She was a member and Past Matron of both the Wachusett and Cradle Rock Chapters, Order of the Eastern Star. She was also a member and past president of John E. Harkins American Legion Auxiliary, Post 42 of Holden. Peggy will be remembered for her zest for life and willingness to help others.
Her husband of 63 years, Milton L. Pearson, died in 2007. She is survived by her son with whom she lived, Mark A. Pearson and his wife Marines of Sandwich; her daughter, Audrey A. Cronin and her husband Dennis of Auburn; five grandchildren, Scott, Robert, Cory, Kyle, and Araina; two step-grandchildren, John Victor and Tyler; four great grandchildren; nephews and nieces. She is predeceased by a sister, Doris LaPorte and two brothers, John and Irvin LaPorte.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Peggy’s family from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, May 7, in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 8, in the funeral home, followed by burial at Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton.
