Rutland - Mary K. Galli, 89, formerly of Worcester and Rutland, passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends on June 6, 2026.
Her husband of 13 years, John M. Galli, predeceased her in 1977. She leaves her four brothers, Francis (Marie) and James (Bridget) Dolan of Ireland, Keilan (Hazel) and Matthew (Mary) Dolan of England; three sisters, Rose Rodrique of Worcester, Margaret Durkin of Webster, and Bernadette Dooner of Ireland. Mary also leaves her much loved nieces and nephews who were her family, Michelle Hemmerling and her husband Andrew of Enfield, NH, Kathleen Shultz and her husband Brian of Sutton, Suzanne Rodrique and her fiancé James of Lunenburg, Ann Ruchala and her husband Bryan of Rutland, and Thomas Rodrique and his wife Elizabeth of Worcester. Mary leaves behind several cousins, nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews and friends, especially her longtime, dear friend, Anne Weagle of Rutland.
Mary was born in Ireland, the daughter of Matthew and Rose (Bohan) Dolan and came to this country in 1955. Mary worked at Rutland Heights Hospital for over 25 years until the time of its closing. She then worked at the Washburn House in Worcester for many years until her retirement.
Mary was a member of St. Patrick's Church in Rutland where she was a Eucharistic Minister and a member of the Altar Society. She belonged to the Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians, Division 36, The State Employees Association and Our Lady of Providence Guild. She volunteered at St. Vincent's Hospital in Worcester for over 40 years.
Mary enjoyed knitting various items over the years- sweaters, hats, gloves, and afghans- for family, friends and for gifting.
The funeral for Mary will be held on Wednesday, June 10th from the Miles Funeral Home in Holden with a Mass of Christian burial at 11:00 AM in St. Patrick's Church, 258 Main Street in Rutland. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery, Worcester. A calling hour will be held at the funeral home from 9:30 - 10:30 AM the morning of the funeral. Family and friends are kindly invited to attend.
