Mary Lanciani

July 30, 1958 — June 18, 2025

STERLING - Mary Lanciani, 66, passed away peacefully in her home on June 18, 2025 surrounded by her family. She is the loving wife of Robert "Duffy" Lanciani with whom she shared 38 years of marriage, and loving mother to four children and stepchildren.

Born in Clinton, Mary lived most of her life in Sterling. Driven to helping others, Mary worked as a firefighter and EMT for 25 years, and later she returned to school and earned her associates degree and became a registered nurse. She met the love of her life, Duffy, in 1986 and married the following year in 1987 and together they built a family.

Mary was a bold and spirited woman who lived life with passion and purpose. An avid hunter for many years, she proudly hunted bear, deer, and turkey. She always wanted a moose, and though she wasn't able to get one she took great pride in hand crafting her own moose calls. Her other great passion was art in its many forms. As a painter and woodworker, she spent years selling her creations in the gift shop she ran and at craft fairs across the northeast. Later, she dove headfirst into photography, capturing the beauty of New England and New Brunswick, from lighthouses and sunsets to the rugged beauty of the woods and swamplands. Mary will be remembered for her creative spirit.

Along with her husband Duffy, Mary leaves behind her two sons, Peter Lanciani of Wilmington, and Thomas Lanciani and his husband Winson Wong of Framingham; her stepdaughters, Jennifer Lanciani and her partner Daniel Moniz of Clinton, and Rebecca Clark and her husband Dave of Norfolk, VA; her six grandchildren, Rachael Bond and her husband Andrew, Brandon Calnan, Casey Germain, Adam Germain, Derrick Clark, and Corey Clark; her beloved dog Belle; her parents Joseph and Barbara DuVarney, and her brothers, Joseph, Tony, and Dominic.

There are no services scheduled. Mary will be laid to rest among her favorite hunting spots in Sterling and New Brunswick, Canada.

Mary's family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Dan Dunn for the compassionate care she provided to Mary in her final months, as well as to HealthAlliance Home Health & Hospice for their dedicated support.

In lieu of flowers, etc., the family requests any memorial contributions be made to NWTF (National Wild Turkey Federation https://www.nwtf.org/) in Mary's name.
