MANOMET - Mary Louise (Stone) Marshalsea, affectionately known as Mary Lou, 72, passed away peacefully, surrounded by the love of her family, on Sunday, October 4, 2026.
Born and raised in Needham, Mary Lou was the daughter of the late Edward E. and Mary Ellen (O’Connor) Stone. She attended Needham public schools and earned her GED before attending nursing school, where she graduated in 2001.
Mary Lou dedicated much of her career to caring for others, working for many years as a hospice nurse with local agencies throughout Massachusetts. Her compassionate nature made caring for people during their end-of-life journey especially meaningful to her.
Mary Lou relocated to her family’s summer home in Manomet, Massachusetts, where she made her home. She had a deep love for animals and was especially passionate about rescuing animals and supporting the ASPCA. Above all, Mary Lou treasured her family. She loved spending time surrounded by her children and grandchildren, enjoying home-cooked meals and making memories together. She also had a well-known sweet tooth and especially enjoyed treating herself to jellybeans and a bowl of mocha chip ice cream.
Mary Lou will be deeply missed by her beloved children, Sean Baker and his wife, Seanna, of Plymouth; Vernon Marshalsea and his wife, Marissa, of Fitzwilliam, NH; Kendra Marshalsea of Lakeville; and Mary Ellen Casaubon and her husband, Matthew, of Leominster; and her cherished grandchildren, Robin Casaubon, Colin Weiner, Aine Baker, Adrianne Casaubon, Caera Baker, and Everett Casaubon. She also leaves her sister, Judith Struble.
In addition to her parents, Mary Lou was predeceased by her brother, Edward Stone, and her sister, Susan Stone.
Relatives and friends are invited to gather during a period of Calling Hours on Monday, October 26, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Miles-Sterling Funeral & Tribute Center, 100 Worcester Rd., Sterling. Interment will be held the following day, Tuesday, October 27, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Manomet Cemetery, 19 White Horse Rd., Plymouth, MA.
