WORCESTER/HOLDEN – Maurie V. (O'Riordan) Germain, 64, died peacefully in her sleep at home on Wednesday, December 23, 2009.
She is survived by two sons, Michael C. Germain and his wife Lisa of Worcester and Christopher D. Germain of Holden; a daughter, Kelly Michele and her husband James Duquette of Holden; her father, Michael J. O'Riordan, and her brother, Neil O'Riordan and his wife Margaret all of England; her former husband, Lawrence E. Germain of Holden; 9 grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law and her beloved cousins and friends in Ireland. Her son, David N. Germain, predeceased her. Maurie was born in County Cork, Ireland the daughter of the late Esther (Johnson) O'Riordan and lived 37 years in Holden before moving to Worcester several years ago.
Maurie was a nurse's assistant at the former Worcester County Hospital in West Boylston. She was a member of St. John's Church and volunteered for Green Island Revitalization amongst other organizations. Maurie had a special gift of finding the good in all people. She spent her life opening her heart and her home to those in need.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, January 2, 2010 in St. John's Church, 40 Temple Street, Worcester. A spring burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, Worcester. Those wishing to say goodbye to Maurie may do so at Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden on Saturday morning from 11:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. In lieu of flowers and in memory of Maurie, the family requests that you volunteer your time to help those in need or give to a charity of one's choice.
