HOLDEN - Maurine A. (Picard) Fassett, 99, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 5, 2026, at the Jewish Healthcare Center in Worcester.

Born and raised in Worcester, Maurine was the daughter of the late William and Mary E. (Wickham) Picard. She attended Worcester Public Schools and was a graduate of Commerce High School.

In 1942, Maurine met the love of her life, Richard Fassett, on the steps of the Greendale Public Library. What began as a friendship blossomed into a lifetime of deep love and devotion. The couple was married in 1948 at Holy Rosary Church in Worcester and shared many wonderful years together. Her family is comforted that they are finally reunited.

Maurine enjoyed a long career as a bookkeeper with DiPierro Manufacturing, where she was known for her dedication and strong work ethic.

She is survived by her beloved nieces, Suzanne M. Medine of Hubbardston and Jeanne M. Elliott and her husband, Francis, of West Brookfield. She also leaves many great-nieces and great-nephews, great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews, as well as extended family members and dear friends who will miss her greatly. In addition to her parents, Maurine was predeceased by her beloved husband, Richard J. Fassett, and her brother William Picard and his wife Mabel.

Maurine found joy in life's simple pleasures. She loved playing games, vacationing with Dick at Beach Acres Campground in Wells, Maine, and traveling together all over the world. She especially enjoyed entertaining family and friends, spending treasured time with her nieces and nephews, and the 25 years she and Dick spent in Flagler Beach, Florida. To their friends, they were affectionately known as “Pic and Dick”. Whether sharing stories over a glass of wine or enjoying a Manhattan, Maurine cherished the moments spent with those she loved. Above all else, family was the center of her life, and the love she shared with them will remain her greatest legacy.

Relatives and friends are invited to gather with Maurine's family for a Calling Hour on Friday, July 24, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. in the gathering room at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 114 Princeton Street, Jefferson.
