S Virginia M. (Malkasian) Steelman

WORCESTER – Virginia M. (Malkasian) Steelman, 90, of Worcester, died Sunday, June 8, 2008 in Saint Vincent Hospital, Worcester.

Her husband of 43 years, William T. Steelman, died in 1999. She leaves her daughter, Karen G. Derby and her husband Randall of Worcester; nieces and nephews. Four brothers, Hagop, Henry, Roy and Sarkis Malkasian, and a sister, Alma Malkasian, predeceased her. She was born and raised in Sutton, the daughter of Hagop H. and Sophie (Eskanderian) Malkasian. She was a 1935 graduate of Sutton High School.

After graduating high school she moved to Worcester in 1937 and lived on West Hill Drive until moving into the Eisenberg Assisted Living Residence in Worcester in 2005. Mrs. Steelman worked for Royal Piano in Worcester for 65 years of which for 42 years she was owner and operator. In the 1980's she changed the company name to Royal Laser, retiring in 1999. She was a member of the Epworth United Methodist Church and its Naomi Circle.

Relatives and friends are invited to a calling hour at 12 noon followed by a funeral service at 1 p.m. on Thursday, June 12th, in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, 217 Richards Avenue (Rte. 56), Paxton. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Massachusetts Chapter, 311 Arsenal Street, Watertown, MA 02472.
