RUTLAND – Nancy J. (Olson) Davenport, age 83, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Thursday, July 9, 2026. Born in Bristol, CT, she was the daughter of the late Carl T. and Ethel L. (Forsman) Olson.
Early in life, Nancy’s family moved to Worcester where she graduated from Commerce High School, class of 1960. She worked as an administrative assistant at John Hancock Insurance and later Rutland Heights Hospital, and finished her career in the purchasing department at UMass Memorial Medical Center – Hahnemann Campus.
She was a loving wife, a devoted mother, grandmother, and the absolute heart of her family. Nancy was incredibly caring, always putting the needs of others before her own. She made sure all her family and friends felt deeply loved and cherished.
She created a warm, welcoming home. Nancy loved having all of her family get together at her home for the holidays. She enjoyed baking and was well known for her Christmas cookies. Nancy was a longtime member of the First Congregational Church of Rutland and loved vacationing on Cape Cod with her family and friends.
Nancy is survived by her devoted husband of over 60 years, Joseph F. Davenport, Jr.; her son, Keith Davenport and his fiancé, Tara Huard of Worcester; 3 daughters, Erika Tooraen of Greenwich, CT, Jessica Brown and her husband, Jon of Rutland, Rebecca Armstrong and her husband, Tim of Rutland; 2 brothers, Glen Olson of Merrimac, Jerry Olson of Springfield; a sister, Janice Nazarewicz of Worcester; 5 grandchildren, Anika, Jonny, Ashleigh, Lexi, and Britney; sister-in-law, brother-in-law, and many nieces and nephews. They take comfort in knowing that her beautiful spirit will forever watch over them.
Family and friends are invited to visit with Nancy’s family to honor her remarkable life, her kind heart, and the beautiful memories she leaves behind. A period of Calling Hours will be held from 10:30 am to 11:30 am on Friday, July 17th, at Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden. A Funeral Service honoring her life will follow at 11:30 am at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Worcester County Memorial Park, 217 Richards Ave., Paxton.
