Nancy O. Johnson

RUTLAND – Nancy O. (Ferguson) Johnson, 97, of Rutland passed away peacefully on July 10, 2025, at Holden Nursing and Rehabilitation. She was born on August 27, 1927, in Worcester to the late Charles and Olive (Stahl) Ferguson.

She attended local grade schools and is a 1945 graduate of Charlton High School. After high school, Nancy worked for Pine Croft Dairy for thirty years. She was always fond of watching and caring for wild birds.

She married Burt N. Johnson in 1947.

After Burt’s untimely passing in 1963, Nancy met Addington Johnson, and they married in 1965.

A longtime and devoted member of the First Congregational Church of Rutland, Nancy cherished the friendship and faith community she found there.

She was predeceased by her husbands, Burt N. Johnson in 1963 and Addington Johnson in 1994, and her close friend Al Amosky.

Nancy is survived by her four children: Brian Johnson of Indialantic, FL; Donald Johnson of Boylston, MA; Sheila Nay and her husband Tom of Rutland; and Robin Stapins and her husband Bruce of Rutland. She also leaves behind her eight grandchildren: Casey, Benjamin, Eli, Patrick, Jill, Rebecca, Anthony, and Andrew; her sister-in-law Margie Ferguson; along with many cousins, neighbors, and dear friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Nancy’s name to the Rutland Senior Center, whose programs brought her great joy in later years.

Services will be held at the convenience of the family.
