PAXTON – Paul A. Roberts, 90, beloved husband of the late Bethea Ann (Smith) Roberts, passed away peacefully in the comfort of his home, surrounded by his family, on Monday, May 18, 2026. Born and raised in Worcester, he was the son of the late Lester and Angelina (Morrill) Roberts.
Paul was a graduate of South High School in Worcester. He went on to further his education at Worcester Jr. College and Worcester Technical School. He enjoyed a long and fulfilling career at New England Telephone Company. In his later years he taught Engineering Economics at the Marlboro Learning Center. He retired after 33 years of dedicated service.
Paul met his future bride, Ann on a blind date in 1953 and they married in 1957. Together they raised their 5 children in Ann's childhood home in Paxton. He often told his children he had planned to become a priest but then he met their mother. He adored her for their 61 years of marriage and looked forward to the day they would be reunited. Paul often commented that his strong faith was given to him by his wonderful parents.
For many summers he enjoyed visiting his brother Ray in Colorado where he helped him on the farm. Saturday mornings visiting the brothers at St Josephs Abby was a highlight to his week. Those who knew him best will remember his sense of humor and quick wit which stayed with him until his passing.
He will be lovingly missed and remembered by his children including Heidi Dumas and her husband, Peter of West Boylston, Christopher Roberts of Spencer, Holly Roberts of Worcester, Peter Roberts of Paxton; his two brothers, George Roberts of Vero Beach, FL and Brother Raymond Roberts, O.C.S.O. of Snowmass, CO. He also leaves his grandchildren, Lindsay Wittwer and her husband, Ben, Andrew Dumas and his wife, Tereza, Ben Bassett, Devon Clements and her husband Chris, Jacqueline Bakes, Emily Havanka and John Nowak, Cole Roberts and his wife Sarah, Cameron Roberts, Kadyn Roberts, and 10 beautiful great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife, Ann, he was predeceased by his son, Timothy Roberts, granddaughter, Kassidy Roberts and his sister, Barbara McKeon.
