PRINCETON - Paul Edward Welch, 85, passed away on October 11, 2026, at UMass Memorial Medical Center.
Paul was born in Worcester, Massachusetts, to Francis and Anna (Savage) Welch. He grew up in Worcester and attended Worcester Boys Trade High School. Shortly after graduating, Paul began his career with the Worcester Police Department, embarking on what would become 42 years of dedicated and faithful service to his community.
While working as a police officer, Paul continued his education and earned an associate degree in Criminal Justice from Curry College. His commitment to his profession and his willingness to further his education reflected the dedication and perseverance that remained hallmarks of his life. Paul retired from the Worcester Police Department in 2006, leaving behind a distinguished career of service.
Paul married his loving wife, Janet (Pelletier) Welch, in 1962. Together, they raised their son, Paul, and eventually settled in Princeton, Massachusetts, where they built their life and family.
A true tinkerer at heart, Paul had a special passion for antique automobiles. He loved spending his free time working on, repairing, and restoring these classic cars. He took great pride in his work and found tremendous satisfaction in bringing old automobiles back to life. His mechanical talent, patience, and enthusiasm for his hobby brought him many hours of enjoyment.
Paul leaves behind his beloved wife, Janet, of 64 years; his son, Paul Welch, and daughter-in-law, Linda; and his three cherished grandchildren, Matt, Chris, and Holli. He is also survived by his siblings, Francis Welch of Worcester, William Welch of Spencer, David Welch of Bonita Springs, Florida, Marie Laliberte of Bonita Springs, Florida, and Donna Welch of East Brookfield.
Paul will be remembered for his dedication to his family, his 42 years of service to the Worcester community, and his love of working with his hands. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends, and his memory will live on in the many lives he touched and the family he loved so dearly.
