Peter A. Griffin

JEFFERSON – Peter A. Griffin, age 83, passed away on Sunday, September 13, 2026 at home in Jefferson. Born in Hartford, CT, he was the son of the late Peter F. and Viola A. (Sobol) Griffin.

At a young age, Peter’s family moved to Jefferson, MA, where he spent most of his childhood. He graduated from Wachusett Regional High School, Class of 1961. Peter proudly served his country in the United States Air Force for over three years. Following his service, he built a successful career as the owner and operator of Bay State Truck Washing Service, a business he proudly ran for more than 20 years.

Peter found enjoyment in the simple things in life. He was an avid collector of model cars and took pride in caring for his house. In his younger years, he also enjoyed playing golf and spending time outdoors.

He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Karen (MacIlvane) Griffin; 2 sisters, Mary Ellen Putnam and her husband, Gary of Trinity, FL, Frances Glockner of Booth Bay, ME; a brother-in-law, Kevin MacIlvane and his wife Cathy; 2 sisters-in law, Bonnie Kenney and her husband, Kevin, Tammie Smiley and her husband, David; 2 aunts, Anne Marie MacIlvane and Virginia Sobol; and nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family would like to thank the caring and compassionate team at JHC Hospice, Oriol Health Care Services and the local Holden EMTs.
