Peter L. Holske, II.

STERLING - Peter L. Holske, II, 68, passed away peacefully, surrounded by the love of his family, on Monday, September 7, 2026, at Saint Vincent Hospital in Worcester.

Born in Attleboro and raised in Mansfield, Peter was the son of the late Peter L. and June C. (Rust) Holske. He attended Mansfield Public Schools and was a graduate of Mansfield High School, Class of 1976. Following high school, Peter continued his education at Wentworth Institute of Technology, where he earned an associate degree in aeronautical engineering.

Peter began his professional career with Adcole Corporation in Marlborough, where he worked as a Field Service Engineer specializing in automotive inspection equipment. He later continued his career as a PLC Technician with AVS, Inc. in Ayer.

Peter and his beloved wife, Mary E. (Proteau) Holske, shared a lifelong connection. Having known one another since childhood through their families' close friendship, Peter and Mary remained close friends until they began dating in 1978. The two were married at Saint Mary's Church in Mansfield and began their life together. They initially settled in South Attleboro, where they raised their family, before moving to Sterling in 2000, where they made their home.

Peter will be deeply missed by his beloved wife, Mary E. Holske of Sterling; his son, Peter L. Holske, III of Winchendon; and his cherished granddaughter, Danica Holske, whom she affectionately called “Grumpy.”

He also leaves his sisters, Cheryl A. O’Connell and her husband, John, of Norton; Laura A. Cannata of Attleboro; Donna J. Irwin of Windham, New Hampshire; and Susan M. Holske of North Attleboro; and his brother, Peter J. Holske and his wife, Courtney, of Lakeville. He is further survived by many nieces and nephews, several extended family members, and countless beloved friends.

Besides his parents, Peter was predeceased by his brother-in-law, Paul Cannata.

Peter had many passions throughout his life. He loved playing and coaching hockey and earned his Master's Coaching Certificate. He was also an avid antique car enthusiast, with a particular fondness for his 1968 Cougar. His career provided him with opportunities to travel throughout the world, an experience he greatly enjoyed. Peter and Mary also looked forward to their annual trips to Cancun, while his love of skiing brought him to Sunday River and Sugarloaf year after year.

Above all else, Peter cherished the time he spent with his family and friends. His presence, sense of humor, and the memories he created with those he loved will be forever remembered.

Relatives and friends are invited to gather with Peter’s family during a period of Calling Hours on Friday, November 6, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Miles-Sterling Funeral & Tribute Center, 100 Worcester Road, Sterling. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, November 7, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be held privately.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Peter's name may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
