Philip A. Meola

WEST BOYLSTON - Philip A. Meola, 93, passed away peacefully, surrounded by the love of his family, on Sunday, September 27, 2026, in the comfort of his home.

Born and raised in Worcester, Philip was the son of the late Anthony A. and Myrtle M. (Elsom) Meola. Throughout his life, Philip worked alongside his father and brothers at the family business, Meola’s Dairy, which provided farm fresh products to Worcester County homes, hospitals and schools. He later became the president of the company, where he worked until his retirement. Philip was actively involved with his son Mark at Meola’s Ice Cream in West Boylston.

In 1951, while working as a milkman, Philip made a delivery to a store on Shrewsbury Street in Worcester, where he met Gloria Galli. It was love at first sight. A short time later, the two were married at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Worcester and settled in the city, where they raised their family. Together, Philip and Gloria shared 74 years of marriage filled with family, hard work, laughter, and countless memories.

Philip was a hardworking and generous man who took great pride in providing for his family and helping others. He had a big heart and would do anything he could to lend a hand to someone in need, both among his family and throughout the community. He loved traveling, spending his winters in Florida and vacationing in the tropical islands. At home, he enjoyed watching boxing on television and, perhaps most famously, cooking. Philip loved feeding people, and if you ever had the pleasure of visiting his home, you certainly never left hungry.

Philip will be deeply missed by his cherished wife, Gloria L. (Galli) Meola of West Boylston; his beloved children, Phyllis M. Chasse and her husband, Ronnie, of Auburn, Paula A. Meola of West Boylston, Cynthia S. Sidloski and her husband, William, of Worcester, and Mark A. Meola of West Boylston; his loving grandchildren, Rachael Chasse, Heather Barbarotta, Benjamin Robbie, Alexandra Madrigal, Erik, Lauren, and Ian Matysiak, Anna Rose Goehle, Michael Meola, and Philip Meola; his great-grandchildren, Landon, Olivia, Rowan, Wesley, Mila, and Sophia; his siblings, Anthony, Helen, and Geraldine; as well as many nieces and nephews, extended family members, and countless beloved friends.

In addition to his parents, Philip was predeceased by his siblings, Dorothy and Robert, and his twin sister, Phyllis, who passed away as a child.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a period of Calling Hours on Thursday, October 1, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Miles-Sterling Funeral & Tribute Center, 100 Worcester Road, Sterling. A Funeral Service will follow at 1:00 p.m. Interment will immediately follow at Mount Vernon Cemetery, Church Street, West Boylston.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Philip’s name may be made to a food pantry of the donor’s choosing.
