Biography
WORCESTER - Robert O. Bacon, 83 of Worcester, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 12, 2018 at the Rose Monahan Hospice Home after a prolonged battle with cancer. Born in Worcester on June 17, 1934, Robert was the son of Robert and Laura (Marr) Bacon and was a resident of the city for most of his life.
He attended Commerce High School where he played baseball before embarking on an entrepreneurial career in which he operated a number of successful businesses. Over the years, he owned bread and milk delivery routes, as well as a number of beauty salons.
He was a devoted family man, lifelong fan of the Red Sox, and had a love for motorcycles, classic cars and country music. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Church in Worcester.
Robert is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Janet (LeFrancois) Bacon; daughter, Lisa Regele and her husband, Dennis of Worcester; son, Kenneth Bacon of Auburn; daughter, Lynn Wagner and her husband, Corie of Worcester; sister, Marion Buonomo of Shrewsbury; brother, Arthur Bacon of Rutland; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Robert’s family from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on Monday, April 16, in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden, followed by a procession to Immaculate Conception Church, 353 Grove St., Worcester for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 a.m. The Rev. Monsignor Stephen Pedone will be the Celebrant. Burial will be private at Notre Dame Cemetery in Worcester. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Robert’s name to Our Lady’s Garden, in care of Immaculate Conception Church, 353 Grove St., Worcester, MA 01605.
