WORCESTER – Robert P. Shilansky, age 82, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, November 16, 2025. Born in Worcester, he was the son of the late Peter M. and Marie F. (Wasiuk) Shilansky.
Bob graduated from Classical High School in Worcester, class of 1961. He went on to graduate from Clark University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and then Northeastern University with a Master of Arts degree in English.
Early in his career, Bob worked for Leicester Junior College as an English Professor and then at Tantasqua Regional High School for over a decade as a Career Development Coordinator where he developed and ran the Work Study Program. Afterwards, he worked as an Attendance Officer for the Worcester Public School Department for over 10 years before finishing his career in Corporate Development as an Educator Liaison at WPI, retiring in 2018.
Bob was very spiritual and religious. He grew up attending Mass at Blessed Sacrament Church in Worcester and later attended St. George’s Church also in Worcester. He enjoyed landscaping around his house, watching his favorite New England teams, simply being outdoors, and going on long walks even into his 70s. He loved the holidays, especially decorating and hosting Christmas.
Later in life, Bob enjoyed weekly trips to the local movie theater with his daughter, Debbie. He proudly followed his two younger granddaughters’, Alyssa (Endicott) and Taylor (Wentworth), basketball teams. He also loved watching his eldest granddaughter Kayla (Wheaton) in numerous music and film productions.
Bob leaves behind his loving wife of 61 years, Rita L. (Gould) Shilansky, 3 daughters, Debra L. Shilansky of Worcester, Lori A. Garabedian and her husband, Richard, of Cheshire, and Robin M. Schneider and her husband, Roy, of Wareham and 3 grandchildren, Kayla M. Garabedian, Alyssa J. Garabedian, and Taylor A. Garabedian.
Services are private and will be held at the convenience of the family. Funeral arrangements are under the care of Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden.
