Robert A. Johnson

RUTLAND - On May 13, 2026, Robert A. Johnson, 83, went home to the Lord. Bob was predeceased by his beloved wife, Barbara C. Johnson. He is survived by his daughter Anita Gregory, her husband Paul Gregory, his cherished companion Teresa Parker, several nieces and nephews, and many dear friends. Born in Worcester and raised in Paxton, he was the son of the late Carl H. and Doris R. (Tanner) Johnson.

Bob excelled in his vocational agriculture education and graduated from Wachusett Regional High School and Stockbridge School of Agriculture. The start of his agribusiness career included several years with Agway before dedicating more than 30 years to the Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, most recently in the position of Director of Properties, before retiring.

Bob and his wife founded and operated the Bo-Bar Plantation Christmas tree farm for 25 years. Bob was actively involved in the Massachusetts Agricultural Club, Massachusetts FFA Foundation, Massachusetts Farm Bureau and was an Eastern States Exposition Trustee. He was a member of The First Congregational Church in Rutland.

Among his favorite pastimes were anything related to growing the perfect Christmas tree, woodworking, gardening and playing cribbage.

With a desire to help others, Bob has donated an anatomical gift to the University of Massachusetts Medical School.

Family and friends are kindly invited to attend a calling hour on Wednesday, June 3rd from 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM at Miles Funeral Home in Holden. A memorial service will follow at 1:00 PM in the funeral home.
